"The world is changing in our favor..." #quotelove #hope
The world is changing in our favor. There is more information about sexual abuse than ever before. But it is still very much targeted toward children, rather than adult survivors. So there is a significant gap in the research and data on prevention and healing. Only 15% of victims are identified during childhood. So much of what the world knows about childhood sexual abuse is inaccurate because the 85% of us who don’t deal with the abuse during childhood are absent from the research. Living openly not only gives us a voice, it dispels the myths. For example, most of us were groomed. But you see almost no information about the grooming process. Also, the word incest is never brought up, but most of us are incest survivors. Incest and grooming are significant issues that are largely ignored, in part, because survivors remain silent for a number of reasons. We are part of a revolution that cannot happen without our voice. It is time to heal.
